Eli will be 2 months old on Tuesday. I still can't quite believe it! After all the craziness of this last year, I'm quite happy not being in an internship right now, and just taking care of the baby. Haha- "just" taking care of the baby... it's a hell of a lot of work, but so worth it. My health has been good- I just had an mri which showed that things appear to be holding steady. I've got a lot to be thankful for. I'm also pretty cranky today from the non-sleeping. And from not being able to get anything besides nursing done, and from worrying about how rent will be paid after next month... Still, I'm pretty damn happy when he smiles at me!! :)
And there are new pictures up on flickr at: http://flickr.com/photos/27329947@N00/sets/72157600703940535/detail/? page=2

Okay, I'll post a real entry soon, but here, to torture I mean enthrall you, is an extremely hallucinatory video of David Hasselhoff singing "I'm hooked on a feeling".
Things to watch for: *numerous wiener dog sightings *random floating aliens *David H. biting and shaking a large fish
WOW!

...this here test seems about right! (Except for the saviing of forwards. except the flying spaghetti monster)
the Idiot Savant (42% dark, 46% spontaneous, 47% vulgar) | your humor style: VULGAR | SPONTANEOUS | LIGHT
You like things silly, immediate, and, above all, outrageous. Ixne on the subtle word play, more testicles on fire, please. People like you are the most likely to RECEIVE internet forwards--and also the most likely to save them in a special folder entitled 'HOLY SHIT'.
Because it's so easily appreciated, and often wacky and physical, your sense of humor never ceases to amuse your friends. Most realize that there's a sly intelligence and a knowing wink to your tastes. Your sense of humor could be called 'anti-pretentious'--but paradoxically enough, that indicates you're smarter than most.

i will get up some photos and info on the trip to Romania and England, but apparently it won't happen till after Burning Man. This is budget Burning Man for me, as kitty Xavier needs thryroid treatment to the tune of around $1200, and my stupid car just failed smog. So I am sewing some dingles onto my normal clothes and away I will go. Sue is paying for all the gas so she will not be coerced into lessons in stick shift again. We leave on Tues. I just joined the neighborhood Y (they have financial assistance- yeah!) and maybe I'll be able to fight off inertia and get a bit more strength. And be less fat. Cormac, please no exercise advice or I'll be discouraged... love you though!

Yeehaw! I'm off to the airport for the first leg of my trip with Mihai: NY to visit family for a couple days, then Romania from the 14th-26, then London for a coupla days to visit my uncle and cousins, then back to NY for a couple more, then home to SF on August 1st!! I'm sort of excited and sort of not believing I'm actually going. I haven't been out of the country for about 10 years -and for the first time for me- I'm all packed and ready to go. Even time for a brief LJ update... ;P Wheeeeeeee! Hiking in the Carpathians! Castles! New and interesting food! Dancing in Bucharest! :)

BwahahaHAHAHA! I'm done w the semester! Woohoo! Heh- I have however realized that having a full-time job minus fulltime school does not equal vacation... I said a while ago I would post a paper or so... Here's one- my music therapy final paper... I think its a good paper, and I'm really interested in the ideas. It's also an example of a purely academic paper, as opposed to the more personal "integration" papers. I'll post one of those later...

Okay. Hmm. I have 1 and 1/4 of a paper left to write. My job is to finish the 1/4 this morning. My body is saying I don't wanna, with the itchy eye and the stuffy sinuses and the foggy head-nesses. Come on, get it together body! Almost there! So I have this book that I bought and read years ago called "creating a life worth living". which is a very good book about well, what it says- creating a life path/career that is creative, when you're not (usually) interested in "traditional" paths. ie mostly for artists, but others too. anyways, i had my usual reaction to what i now know are cognitive-like, step by step exercises, etc, namely resistance. The first exercise was about coming up w/ an arts practice that was not your primary, something you could just do for fun and the enjoyment of doing it- not to try to make yourself better at it. So I obsessed- what would i choose? There were so many things I liked doing, and so little that I could just do w/o trying to make myself really "good" at it. And then, there was the fact that I was supposed to do it for 15 min a day, every day. I am really not good at doing _anything_ everyday. So, at various points, I tried watercolor painting, meditation, writing. Yeah, well, like I said, everyday? Everything was either too much challenge or I didn't feel like doing it or... It just didn't work. So, after I think 4 years- I just found it a few days ago. An "arts" practice I can actually, I think, do most of the time. I started doing it because I've been sitting at the computer so much, and b/c I've been in this dance therapy class, so- I crank up itunes and just dance around my little room like a monkey! Well, not always like a monkey, but often. Ha- definitely something I can't imagine myself doing professionally, and yet somehow, my brain has decided both qualifies as "practice" and is ridiculous enough for me to keep doing. So here I go. Playlist: Laurie De'Tullins- Chris Thile An Animated Description of Mr. Maps- The Books Iron Man- 4Tet Remix You shook me all night long- ACDC ABC- Jackson 5
and now you can know a little of how wierd I am. (BTW- check out the strange dream-like Chris Thile piece on www.aurgasm.com and the Books are really really neat and strange too!)

My music therapy paper is turning into a Frankenstein monster. In the meantime- (what's with the pictures?) True Ethical Slut Whoa! You scored 32 Sluttiness Points and 25 Ethics Points! Interesting... | Doesn’t sex just kick ass? You love it and your friends love it and your playmates love it. Sex is that overflowing bowl of ice cream you just have to share with the world. Because maybe, just maybe, if we can get more happy good sex out into the world, we can make it a happier place for everyone in it. You know how to communicate about what you want and how to listen to your partner’s desires. You even use your turn signals. You’re just an all around good person. You are one of the beautiful people. | |

I have to co-lead a group session in group therapy class today. We're gonna do the brave thing of not pre-planning stuff for the group to do, and instead take our cues from what folks bring in/up. Now I can't read or study for my imminent papers, and feel like I'm going to throw up from being so nervous.

I've been meaning to put this up for a while. I've always been an avid plastic bag collector -ahem- I mean recycler, but when I heard this subject mentioned on "Fresh Air" a while back I couldn't believe it, and searched it out online. Floating plastic the size of TEXAS in our oceans for gods sakes? If anything would make people reuse, recycle, or even better use cloth or even paper, this should do it. It's beautifully written, as well. I've been refusing plastic bags for months now, and although it doesn't really do anything, its amazing how any I would have had if I hadn't paid attention.

update- I took out this quizzy because it broke my and other people's friends page for some reason...
Woohoo! I'm "intelectual"! And I enjoy "scalpting"! Mmmm scalps.
 | You scored as One Intelectual Individual. You're a thinker. You see things from a very different prospective than the rest of the world, and probably find release and self-expression in music, painting, scalpting, or any other form of art. People see you as a deep person, full of knowledge that they don't understand. People are attracted to that, but there's a good chance you don't care.
